Overall, in regards to Travelers, male rates tend to be higher than female rates. Males tend to get into more accidents than females, and insurance companies factor this in when assessing rates.

It’s also worthy to note that as the age increases for male and female drivers, car insurance rates decrease.

Married, 60-year-old males and females pay the cheapest rates at $2,074.41 and $2,051.98, respectively. This is a major jump from the 17-year-old demographic where males and females pay $12,850.91 and $9,307.32, respectively.

Even with Travelers, we see higher rates for teens and cheaper rates than older drivers. This emphasizes the statistics that younger drivers tend to get into many accidents due to inexperience, while older drivers are less of a liability coverage as they tend to drive less.

What are Travelers car insurance ratings?

Travelers is one of the most common household names in the insurance industry to date. This company has proven itself in the insurance industry by being one of the top leaders in numbers and innovation. These things say a lot about the powerhouse company.

But there are other ways to measure how well a company is doing. In fact, we can discover the strength and wellbeing of a company through ratings.

Whether measured by numbers or letters, ratings can give insight to an organization’s financial strength and esteem. They can also make it easier for customers to compare the performance of various organizations and can help answer the questions of which organization is leading and falling short and in what areas.

The chart below shows just how Travelers was graded as an organization by some of the leading risk-assessing organizations.

Let’s break this down a bit.

A.M. Best

A.M. Best is a global credit rating agency that determines a company’s financial strength and creditworthiness, as well as accountability to policyholders. Travelers received an “A+” from A.M. Best. What this means is that Travelers is considered as “superior” in meeting their insurance obligations.

Better Business Bureau (BBB)

The Better Business Bureau is dedicated to helping individuals “find businesses they can trust.” The BBB rates organizations based on information that it is able to obtain about the business, including complaints from the public.

BBB has its highest rating at “A+,” and it’s the lowest rating as “F.” From BBB, Travelers obtained a grade of “A+.” Grade “A+” represents the range 97-100, with 100 being the highest.

These are great ratings for the insurance guru.

Moody’s Rating

Moody’s, a bond credit rating business, seeks to determine the future creditworthiness of securities.

Moody’s gave Travelers the rating “A2” while “A” represents superior financial strength, numbers represent categories or class, with three being the lowest. That said, Travelers basically earned the third-highest of the 21 financial ratings.

Additional strengths include its long-established track record of core profitability, its high-quality investment portfolio and strong internal liquidity, and its solid risk-adjusted capitalization and excellent financial flexibility.

And while Moody’s notated several weaknesses, including “long-tail casualty lines such as workers’ compensation” and “general liability”, for instance, it is very telling for the credit-rating organization to give out such a high rating to the Travelers establishment.

Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Rating

S&P is the world’s leading provider of credit ratings. Ratings range from “AAA,” that is, “extremely strong capacity to meet financial commitments” to “D,” meaning “payment default on a financial commitment or breach of an imputed promise.”

Travelers were rated an “AA” from S&P, only one classification removed from the top performance “AAA.”

S&P has this to say about Travelers rating: “An obligation rated ‘AA’ differs from the highest-rated obligations only to a small degree. The obligor’s capacity to meet its financial commitments on the obligation is very strong.”

Knowing that an organization’s commitments to its obligations are “very strong” highlights the stability of the company’s ability to perform.

NAIC Complaint Index

Getting a sense of an organization’s financial and institutional strength is one thing, but knowing what your fellow peers have said about their personal experience is as equally important.

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) publishes complaint data on organizations every year.

Let’s dive deeper.

From the chart, we see that Travelers has a high complaint ratio that is increasing over the years, though its complaints are minimal.

J.D. Power

J.D. Power, a worldwide pioneer in consumer insights, advisory services, and information and investigation, recently conducted a survey in 2019 based on insurance customers who settled a claim in the past six months. From 11,186 responses, Travelers scored a three out of five for overall customer satisfaction. Customer claims, a subsidiary of the overall score, also received a three out of five.

Travelers, then, is “about average” for handling its claims.

What should you know about canceling your car insurance policy?

So perhaps after evaluating the types of services and programs Travelers offers, you might decide that you want to explore other options.

We get it.

We also get those changing providers could be an unnecessary hassle that leaves you in frustration this is why we’re here. We’re going to look at how to cancel your policy with Travelers and answer a couple of questions regarding cancellation fees and when you can cancel.

Stay with us.

Is there a cancellation fee?

Some companies make cancellation processes easy on their customers, while others seem to make individuals jump through numerous hoops before they can call it quits. But what about Travelers?

Travelers does not state that there is a cancellation free when it comes to terminating your policy. This is good news, as some insurance carriers penalize customers for canceling.

Compare over 200 auto insurance companies at once!

secured lock Secured with SHA-256 Encryption

Is there a refund?

Just like Travelers doesn’t get technical about a cancellation fee, they also don’t seem to address having a refund. In general, if you cancel your policy before your term, you are obligated to get refunded for any unused policy. Thus, Travelers should provide a refund if you cancel early and have unused coverage.

How do you cancel?

Knowing what we now know about Travelers’ cancellation policy, you may be ready to cancel. Keep reading for instructions on how to terminate your policy with Travelers.

Step #1 Have a Replacement Insurance Provider

Chances are if you’re ready to cancel, you may have had your eye on a new provider. Or, perhaps you feel like you know enough to make a decision on canceling. Either way, you must have a new insurance provider already set up before you terminate your contract with Travelers. Without having a replacement provider, you’d have a gap in your insurance coverage, and you need to show Travelers proof that you’re covered elsewhere.

So before you proceed to Step 2, if you haven’t already, do your diligent research and see what other programs and services other providers are offering that might be suitable for you and your family.

Step #2 Contact Travelers

Now that you have your replacement insurance, it’s time to contact Travelers. You can do this in several ways:

  • Use the Travelers insurance phone number at 1-866-336-2077
  • Stop by a local office to see an agent
  • Reach out and write an agent through Travelers website

While writing an agent may be more convenient, it may actually be wise to speak to someone. So stopping by a local office or talking to a representative might be your best bet.

Step #3 Get Confirmation

You did it. You’ve found a new provider, and you’ve canceled your policy with Travelers. Just one second before you go, get confirmation. It’s always important to make sure you have a record of your cancellation.

And that’s it, you’re all set.

When can I cancel?

Travelers’ billing department is open 24/7, 365 days a week. So if there’s anything pertaining to your policy, like cancellation, for instance, you are free to cancel anytime.

How do you make a car insurance claim?

Accidents happen every day, so you’ll want to be prepared in case one happens to you. We understand that making a claim can seem like a hassle when your mind is still swarming from the mayhem of a collision.

That’s why we’re here. In this section, we’ll discuss how to make a claim if you’re going with Travelers, as well as getting into some logistics of how they’ve been handling claims as an organization. This is extremely important, especially if you’re considering investing your dollars into Travelers.

Let’s get down to business then.

How easy is making a Travelers insurance claim?

So how easy is making a claim with Travelers?

On the Travelers website, one of the primary tabs is called the “Claim Center.” There, you can find many resources about claims, as well as the option to file a claim online.

Travelers also gives you the option to file a claim by phone. Simply call 1-800-252-4633 to file a claim with a representative. Hours of operation are 24/7 for all 365 days of the year, so you’ll always be able to get in touch with a representative.

Keep in mind that you can always file a claim in person by locating Travelers near you.

How much premiums are written by Travelers?

Another great way of evaluating the esteem of an organization is to look at how it fulfills its claims. We can do this by examining the consistency of the total premiums paid.

When we’re talking about premiums written, we’re seeing how capable a company is of paying its claims.

A high number of claims written means the company is capable of meeting the demands of its customers. If, however, a company has few premiums but a lot of claims, it will have to increase its rates in order to pay its debts.

With that being said, let’s take a look at the premiums written for Travelers.

As you can see, Travelers has done a good job of increasing its premiums written over the past several years. This means they are in a healthy position to meet the demands of their customers.

What is the loss ratio of Travelers?

Now let’s talk about loss ratios.

A loss ratio under 40 percent is probably too low.If a loss ratio is too low, then the company is collecting more premium than it needs for the number of claims it is getting.

A loss ratio of over 75 percent is too high. If a loss ratio is too high, the carrier is not collecting enough premium for the claims it is receiving and is a sign that a rate might increase. A high loss ratio doesn’t mean an insurance company is facing bankruptcy unless the loss ratio is high for several years in a row. More than likely, a high loss ratio means the company is going to have a rate increase in the relatively near future.

Keep this in mind as we evaluate the loss ratios below for Travelers.

Let’s face it, easy-to-do forms and applications are so much better than painful processes. We get it. That’s why we’ve included this section. We’ll talk about the design of the Travelers’ website and how easy you can find answers.

We’ll also dive into the mobile app and how effective the design is.

Let’s get to it.

The main tabs Travelers features are insurance for businesses, individuals, a claim center, and its “prepare and events” resource, which gives you tips for various walks of life. This projects its versatility as an organization to meet the needs of all of its customers, including its “login” feature, which allows customers to manage their accounts online.

Another major feature emphasized on the homepage is getting a quote. Travelers wants to make sure that it meets those inquiring minds on its products and services. Not only is Travelers in favor of its customer base, but also for its prospective customers as well.

Effective, human-centered, and to the point, Travelers’ website is easy for the average individual to manage.

With this being said, resources, products, and company information is easy to locate on the Travelers website, and your experience should not be chaotic by any means.

Is the design a plus or minus?

Through the Travelers’ website, you are able to scroll down on the main homepage to see a list of products and services and other features. This simple layout is what makes the Travelers website efficient.

It’s also a clean and clear experience because the Travelers website is not cluttered with unnecessary amounts of links. The website has a basic minimum to make things clear and easy to follow.

The font is consistent and clean, as well as the actual design photos are eye-catching, yet minimalized, leading you to their topics, making for an engaging experience.

Overall, this design won’t leave your head spinning, which is a good thing.

The app has several guiding links like “payments,” for instance, which turn into tabs and direct the user to their specific request.

Overall, the design is a plus, making it easy to get where you need to go without the confusion and minimal functionality issues.

What is the history of Travelers?

Travelers has been in the game for over 160 years. While longevity doesn’t always equate character and strength, it says a lot about an organization’s durability. Not only that, but this company has had incredible milestones. Some are highlighted below.

If we take a look at Glassdoor, we find that Travelers received a 3.8 rating out of 5 stars. Not bad for the insurance giant.
